Today I went to Barber's shop to have my
beard shaved... We prefer keeping our eyes closed to enjoy the feeling and smell good fragrance of face cream and shaving gel. We consider it as one of our best leisure time. But something different, something remarkable, something effortless and genuine happened to me.
After spreading the shaving cream on my neck and cheeks with the shaving brush, the barber took out two sided cutting blade to shave my beard. We do not care if the blade is sterile or not, neither we care what if the person is untrained, it might cut your neck. We behave like typical Indian, What harm will he do with that blade? The guy is standing with huge blade in his hand and you are behaving as if you are relaxing at the coolest and safest saloon in the country. As he applied first stroke of blade on my cheeks, suddenly I started observing my mind. I realized I was fully aware, I was in present moment, I did not have regret of sleepless night yesterday nor fear of boss shouting on me at office... I was totally with each stroke of blade, totally aware, totally in present moment... It was funny to discover meditation when someone is playing with blade artistically over your neck... I was deeply enjoying the whole act of getting shaved... I was happy because I was in present moment with AC on my head and cool guy treating me like prince.
When shaving was over, the guy massaged my faced with creams and face wash and I realized by face was glowing... Meditation happened effortlessly and unintentionally... Blade on neck brought me to present moment... WOW :)
Then I thought is it wise to meditate in such a way every time... investing some bucks. No, not at all. We can all do same, setting on cushion, relaxing and observing our mind. That also of no cost, FREE. (Free can be considered as synonymous with Indians)
The experience was majestic in its own unique way!
